Influence of soil characteristics on growth and pistachio fruit

Pistachio is one of the important export and strategic products of the Iranian Pistachio country and for sustainable production of this product, it is necessary to identify the factors affecting its growth. The aim of this study was to identify the soils under pistachio cultivation and the effect of the characteristics of these soils on the growth, yield and smile of pistachios.

For this purpose, the pomegranate area located 75 km northwest of Rafsanjan in 2006 was selected for the study. After the preliminary studies, gardens were selected that were the same in terms of management, cultivar, water quality and irrigation cycle, but different in terms of apparent growth. Thus, six gardens were selected and each garden was divided into favorable and unfavorable parts.
